Site wide Updates and Thoughts.

First of all, we raised another $4 since we last posted here. We went and decided to round up to $10. Again, we will be making this title free in October, but we appreciate anyone and everyone who has donated already.

Since we didn’t exactly have a general place to post the rest of this, we’re going to use this space here.

On the recent sweeping itch.com censorship issue. We’re completely in support with our LGBTQ+ allies when it comes to those who would try to cancel and delete this subject matter from off the internet. Though our titles seem to be spared we wanted to make it known our stance on the subject. The act itself from Itch.io mods was handled very poorly, and carelessly having been done overnight and without warning. However, we still don’t know the full severity of their situation at this time, and aren’t planning of leaving itch anytime soon, as upon until last month, they have been a tremendous place for artist and subjects deemed taboo by a majority of the rest of the internet, and we need more allies than enemies at this time.

Plainly put we believe Itch.io (and Valve, and any other hosting sites) should be the ones in charge of moderating their websites content, not outside payment processors. Period. How they handle the issue of content moderation is up to them, but before all of this Itch.io had been very open with what content was allowed. We are currently watching them restore free titles that were previously banded from the site, and hope to see them return the rest of the titles or as many as they can soon. (That said we’re ALSO watching for any further alleged bias from Itch.io mods against LGBTQ+ stories going forward.)

Earlier this year (thanks to Soylent Orange)we got in touch with The Ethical Hypnotist and were able to help them put out Side Effects Include. We were so impressed by how much they had ready to go and that they used nearly the exact same programs we used for our productions, that we encouraged them to start their own channel here on itch. Thank you again to all of our recent follows that have found their way here to itch.io, and those who have been here since we started. 

We’re all here waiting for the tide to change against the “authorities that be” who seemed to be in power right now, but we can fucking handle this. By having communities, or sharing art of any kind together on sites like this, we can remember that this ugly cloud of doom that seems to be overhead daily, will pass, this won’t be forever, and they won’t win. I hope you don’t let them scare you like this in any way shape or form. It is really wild compared to even ten years ago that there are newly emboldened people who are out there that are still frightened about anything that doesn’t fit their strict hetero worldview when it’s so obvious why. Deep down they know we belong here too; we have a right to exist. So just keep going! Keep existing! You have the power of will, a power of personality and a strong sense of self to have come this far!
